RISE - Restart in a Safe Environment

From 2010, the Zonta Club of Caloundra  advocated for short-term accommodation facilities for women and children escaping domestic abuse at southern end of the Sunshine Coast.   $90,000 was raised in 90 days to secure further funding to build duplex accomodation under the name RISE- Restart in a Safe Environment.

Kelly Callaghan, then President from Zonta Caloundra was quoted as saying The long term welfare of children is of primary importance in seeking to move families to a safer environment.  The first tenants for  RISE were welcomed in June 2017, after the homes were opened by then Mayor, Mark Jamieson. Four further duplex properties are now available as part of the RISE 2 project, to bring the total number of units to 10.

Our valued partnership with Coast 2 Bay Housing and the Salvation Army continues. Pam Hall is a member of the Rise Foundation Board. With secure accomodation at a premium on the Sunshine Coast, we will continue to advocate for additional properties.
